Courtesy Car After Non Fault Accident (FAQ's)
UK drivers are entitled to a courtesy car after a non-fault car accident on a UK road involving a correctly insured at-fault vehicle.
Driver’s are entitled to the courtesy car or courtesy vehicle of the same type and specification as that of their vehicle.
Courtesy cars must be requested within 14 days of the accident date or as soon a the vehicle owners are fit to drive.
Courtesy cars remain with drivers until their vehicle is fully repaired and returned to them. Or until such time their own vehicle’s write off claim is settled.
We provide courtesy car’s and hire vehicles that are fully insured and can be matched to your vehicle policy. This means any named drivers stated upon the drivers own vehicle policy can be added at no cost to the courtesy car policy.
In the event of a non-fault car accident on a UK road involving another correctly insured vehicle, UK drivers are entitled to a courtesy car. The courtesy car entitlement remains in place from the date of the accident to the date the vehicle owner receives either settlement of their vehicle damage claim, or accident damage repairs are completed to their vehicle.
The cost of the courtesy car during this period are claimable from the at-fault driver’s insurance company. The daily rate of courtesy car’s and hire vehicles are charged in line with ABI (Association of British Insurers Daily Rates)
If the accident was not your fault you’re entitled to a “like for like” courtesy car after the accident.
This means a vehicle of the same size specification and standard as that of your own vehicle.
ACC match courtesy vehicle types closely to ensure customers receive the right vehicle type during the period of their damaged vehicle claim. We give customers a selection of vehicles types from within their entitlement group and they select the courtesy vehicle.
